Terms of Service

Welcome to StarrBase ("StarrBase", "we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account, uploading content, or using the StarrBase platform, you agree to the following Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the platform.

1. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating a StarrBase account and are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials. You are fully responsible for all activity under your account.

2. Artist Content & Copyright

By uploading music, audio files, artwork, descriptions, or any related materials ("Content"), you affirm, represent, and warrant that:

  • You own or control all necessary rights to the Content.
  • You have full authority to license the Content to StarrBase for digital sale and distribution.
  • Your Content does not infringe the intellectual property rights, moral rights, publicity rights, or privacy rights of any third party.
  • Uploading the Content to StarrBase does not violate any contracts, agreements, or obligations with third parties (including record labels, publishers, managers, or distributors).

StarrBase is not responsible or liable for any unauthorized, infringing, or illegal Content uploaded by users. The uploader accepts all responsibility and liability for their Content.

3. License to StarrBase

By uploading Content, you grant StarrBase a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • copy, host, store, and stream your Content;
  • display your Content on the platform;
  • sell and deliver digital downloads to fans;
  • use your name, artwork, and metadata to promote your releases within the platform;
  • create temporary copies of your Content for technical distribution and delivery.

This license exists solely for operating StarrBase and ends if you remove your Content, except where necessary to complete pending sales already made to fans.

4. Sales, Payments & Fees

Platform Fee

StarrBase takes a fixed 5% platform fee from each sale. This fee is used for platform maintenance, development, and ongoing operation.

Payment Processing Fees

Payments are processed using Stripe. Stripe charges its own processing fees, which are separate from the StarrBase platform fee. These fees are subject to change according to Stripe’s policies.

Artist Earnings (95% of Net Sales)

Artists receive 95% of the Net Sale amount. In this context, “Net Sale” means:

Gross Sale Price – Stripe Processing Fees = Net Sale.

The Artist receives 95% of this Net Sale amount. StarrBase receives 5% of the gross sale price.

This model ensures payouts remain predictable and avoids violations of merchant processor agreements.

5. DMCA & Copyright Claims

StarrBase complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If we receive a valid copyright takedown notice, we will remove the infringing Content and notify the uploader.

Repeated copyright violations may result in account termination at our discretion.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • upload unauthorized or infringing material;
  • use StarrBase for illegal activity of any kind;
  • attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the platform;
  • misrepresent identity, ownership, or rights;
  • harass or abuse other users.

7. Termination

StarrBase reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to the platform, users, or legal obligations.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

StarrBase is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties regarding uptime, functionality, availability, or compatibility.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StarrBase is not liable for:

  • loss of revenue, profits, or data;
  • unauthorized uploads by users;
  • copyright disputes between users and third parties;
  • service interruptions or data loss;
  • errors caused by Stripe or external services.

Artists are solely responsible for ensuring they have full rights to the Content they upload and sell through StarrBase.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of New South Wales.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of StarrBase after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
