This Privacy Policy explains how StarrBase ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the StarrBase platform. By creating an account or using our services, you consent to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

When you create an account using Firebase Authentication, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Password (securely hashed by Firebase, not visible to us)
  • Display name / profile name
  • Profile picture (if uploaded)
  • Metadata such as signup date and last login

b) Artist Content & Uploads

If you upload music or artwork, we store these files securely in Firebase Storage. Metadata associated with releases (title, price, description, artwork URL, timestamps) is stored in Firestore.

c) Purchase Information

Purchases are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment information on our servers. Stripe may provide us with:

  • Payment status
  • Amount paid
  • Transaction metadata
  • Portions of your billing information (never full card numbers)

d) Usage Data

We may collect usage information such as pages visited, device type, IP address, and interactions. This helps improve platform performance and user experience.

e) Cookies

We use cookies for authentication, security, and session management. You may disable cookies in your browser, but certain features may not function properly.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

  • Authenticate your account
  • Provide access to your music library and uploads
  • Process purchases and payments
  • Display your artist profile and releases publicly
  • Deliver purchased downloads to fans
  • Improve platform reliability, speed, and features

3. How We Store and Protect Your Data

StarrBase runs entirely on Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure. Your data is stored using:

  • Firebase Authentication (secure account management)
  • Firestore (user profiles, releases, purchases)
  • Firebase Storage (audio files, artwork)
  • Cloud Functions (automated processing and payouts)

All data is encrypted at rest and in transit in accordance with Google Cloud’s security standards.

Important Disclaimer (No Liability for Data Loss)

While we take reasonable steps to protect data, StarrBase is not liable for any loss, corruption, or deletion of data, files, releases, artwork, or account information caused by:

  • user error
  • accidental deletion
  • misuse of the platform
  • third-party service failures (Firebase, Google Cloud, Stripe)
  • network outages
  • security breaches beyond our control

Artists are responsible for keeping backup copies of their masters, artwork, and metadata. StarrBase does not guarantee permanent storage of uploaded materials.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your data. We only share information with:

  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • Firebase / Google Cloud (hosting, authentication, storage)
  • Law enforcement, only when required by subpoena or legal obligation

All third-party processors are bound by their own privacy and security policies.

5. Data Retention

We retain account and release data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we remove:

  • your profile
  • your releases (unless tied to purchases already delivered)
  • your purchase history
  • stored files associated with your account

Some technical logs may be retained temporarily for security and debugging.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • access your data
  • update your profile
  • delete your account
  • request removal of releases (unless already purchased)

7. Children's Privacy

StarrBase is not intended for individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If such data is found, it will be deleted.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be stored on servers located outside your home country. By using StarrBase, you consent to this transfer.

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of StarrBase after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
